Does Anybody Know What Time It Is?
We have accepted the idea that we can “manipulate” time & to that end – we have “Fallen Back.”
The idea of aligning waking hours to daylight hours to conserve candles was first proposed in 1784 by Benjamin Franklin. In a satirical letter to the editor of The Journal of Paris, Franklin suggested that waking up earlier in the summer would economize on candle usage; and calculated considerable savings. The idea of turning clocks forward in the fall and back in the spring came out of World War II as an energy-saving measure.
Amneet Sandhu of the University of Colorado told Reuters in 2014 his research discovered a 25 percent bump in heart attacks occurring on the Monday after daylight saving started stating, “Our study suggests that sudden, even small changes in sleep could have detrimental effects…”
Change is hard, we know. But in two, or three weeks – you’ll feel back to your old self. In the meantime – be glad your electronic devices are smart enough to change their own times.
