Delyn Grey is Fearless with Release of “Daddy’s Love”
Delyn Grey never takes the soft, mossy road. It seems the path she always chooses is rocky, hard, and bold. After taking on depression and isolation in her last two releases, her latest single “Daddy’s Love,” is a full-on declaration of fearlessness.
“I want people to feel empowered to deflect other people’s defeatist projections with this one. I love this song, man. It’s gotten me through some serious mind-screws. It’s a relief. Don’t ever let anyone dictate what your relationship with your passion, loved-ones, and yourself look like. It’s not up to them and you must be pretty cool if people are trying to keep you from reaching your full potential, ha! Be fearless, be unapologetic, and maybe take the high road instead of calling out their daddy issues…? Keep doing you.”
Everything about this song is fearless and unapologetic. There are no subtleties in the sound or the lyrics. Intense mashing of guitar, bass and drums bounce off Grey’s deep and matter-of-fact vocals.Together they create an uneasiness, as it should. Representing oneself is not easy, especially in the face of detractors.
Delyn Grey is a Toronto-based musician who writes about life with a realism and intensity not often found in artists of any age, let alone someone still in the early years of her profession. Her alternative style is unique and totally badass.
There is a video to accompany the single release. It’s more than a bit disturbing. Suggestion is to listen to the tune on Spotify or Apple to truly appreciate the song, then watch the video to acknowledge the full depth of it.
Delyn Grey is far from being finished with all she has to say. With her provocative way of saying things, it should be intriguing.
