Chris Janson Lights Up Brown County Music Center with High-Energy Country Vibes

By on January 31, 2026

If you’re a country music fan looking for a night of pure fun, heartfelt stories, and chart-topping hits, Chris Janson’s show at the Brown County Music Center in Nashville, Indiana, on January 29, 2026, delivered all that and more. This was my second time catching the fun-loving star live, and he didn’t disappoint. From his humble beginnings in a single-wide trailer in Perryville, Missouri, to becoming one of the biggest names in new country, Janson’s journey resonates with fans who love authentic, high-octane performances.

A Stellar Opening Act: Joe Lasher

Kicking off the evening was the wonderful opening act, songwriter Joe Lasher. Born and raised in Weaverville, North Carolina, Lasher has been honing his craft since his teenage years, and it shows. His set was filled with great storytelling chops—he’s incredibly likable and seemed to have as much fun on stage as the audience did. Lasher shared insights into songwriting in Nashville, describing it as a real job where you clock in every day at the “office.” His energy set the perfect tone for the night, blending humor, heart, and catchy tunes that had everyone tapping their feet. I met him after the show for photos and he signed a T-shirt for me.

Chris Janson’s Rise and Personal Touches

Chris Janson, born Christopher Pierre Janson on April 2, 1986, moved to Nashville right after high school and has been grinding ever since. Married to Kelly Lynn for 16 years (they tied the knot in 2010), Janson often weaves his family life into his shows, making him feel like a buddy rather than a superstar. A highlight was when his son, Jesse “JJ” Janson, made a guest appearance—talk about a proud dad moment! JJ joined for a fun segment, showcasing the family’s musical talent and adding a sweet, personal vibe to the evening.

Janson’s history is one of perseverance. He started with early deals like signing to BNA Records in 2009, releasing singles, and co-writing hits for others, including Tim McGraw’s “Truck Yeah” and LoCash’s “I Love This Life.” His breakthrough came with self-released tracks that caught fire, leading to his Warner Nashville signing and a string of smashes.

The Hits That Keep on Giving

Janson’s catalog is packed with anthems that scream good times. He joked about not liking set lists, but they provided me with a “suggested set list” that guided the night. His biggest hits shone bright: the 5x Platinum “Buy Me a Boat,” which launched him into stardom; the Platinum “Fix a Drink” and “Good Vibes,” perfect for feel-good sing-alongs; Gold-certified “Done”; and the Platinum “Drunk Girl,” a poignant track that earned acclaim for its message. Other standouts included “All I Need Is You,” his fifth No. 1 hit, and “Holdin’ Her,” a tender nod to love and life.

The show was a mix of rowdy party songs and emotional ballads, proving Janson’s versatility as a multi-instrumentalist—he shredded on harmonica, guitar, piano, and even the drums.
