Extra Innings Festival Day 1 Delivers a Perfect Blend of Country Talent in Tempe
Friday, February 27, 2026, brought sunny skies and a full slate of music to Tempe Beach Park as Extra Innings Festival kicked off its third year with a day that felt like the ideal mix of spring-training energy and heartfelt country sounds. What makes this festival stand out in today’s music scene is the way it pairs a relaxed baseball-themed atmosphere with a thoughtfully curated lineup of artists who range from rising independents to longtime favorites, all without overlapping sets so fans can catch everything they want.

It’s the kind of event that turns a weekend into a genuine celebration of roots music and community.

Extra Innings Festival launched in 2024 as the country-and-roots companion to the original Innings Festival, which has been a fixture at Tempe Beach Park since 2018. Produced by C3 Presents—the same team behind major events like Lollapalooza, Austin City Limits Music Festival, Bonnaroo, and Country Calling Festival—the two-day gathering at Tempe Beach Park & Arts Park combines live performances with lakefront views, local food, and that unmistakable spring-training vibe.
A Full Day of Music on Two Stages
The day’s schedule on the Home Plate and Right Field stages offered something for every kind of country fan. Starting early on the Right Field stage, Ian Harrison set a welcoming tone, followed by Lola Kirke on Home Plate with her distinctive blend of storytelling and edge. The Brudi Brothers brought their warm, harmony-rich Americana to Right Field, while Drew Baldridge delivered earnest small-town country on Home Plate. Drew Holcomb & the Neighbors followed with their melodic, inclusive folk-rock on Right Field, and Bret Michaels turned up the classic-rock energy on Home Plate with hits from his Poison days and beyond.

As the afternoon turned to evening, Muscadine Bloodline offered soulful Southern roots on Right Field, Dierks Bentley gave a special hometown touch on Home Plate—sharing memories of growing up in the Phoenix area—and Brothers Osborne closed the Right Field day with their gritty guitar-driven sound. Luke Bryan wrapped everything up as the Home Plate headliner, filling the night with his signature party anthems and sing-along favorites like “Country Girl (Shake It for Me)” and “Huntin’, Fishin’ and Lovin’ Every Day.”

Highlights across the lineup included Dierks Bentley’s playful Hot Country Knights medley, the Brudi Brothers’ tight three-part harmonies, and Bret Michaels’ unexpected Lynyrd Skynyrd cover that had the crowd fully engaged. The biggest artists of the day—Luke Bryan with more than two dozen No. 1 singles and multiple Entertainer of the Year awards, Dierks Bentley with enduring hits like “What Was I Thinkin’,” Brothers Osborne with CMA Vocal Duo wins, and Bret Michaels with decades of rock classics—showed why fans keep returning to events like this.

Day 1 of Extra Innings Festival proved once again that this event knows how to create lasting memories without needing to overdo it. The combination of strong performances, easy pacing, and that laid-back Arizona setting made it easy to simply enjoy the music and the moment. For music lovers who appreciate a festival that feels personal rather than overwhelming, it’s the sort of day that quietly becomes a highlight of the year—the kind you look back on fondly while already planning to catch whatever comes next.
