The Band Perry Brings a Fresh Chapter to the Two Step Inn
The Band Perry took the Showdeo stage at 1:30 p.m. on April 18, 2026, in Georgetown, Texas, and delivered a set that felt both familiar and forward-looking. With Kimberly Perry’s unmistakable voice leading the way and a rootsy blend of country storytelling and melodic hooks, the performance tried to recreate what has always made the group special: heartfelt songs that connect across generations, now delivered in a more intimate, “duo-driven” format that emphasizes their core chemistry.

From Breakout Hits to a New Era
Originally formed in 2005 in Greeneville, Tennessee, as a sibling trio, The Band Perry rose to fame in 2010 with their debut single “If I Die Young,” which topped the country charts and crossed over to the Billboard Hot 100. Their self-titled album and 2013’s *Pioneer* produced additional No. 1 hits including “Better Dig Two,” “Done,” “All Your Life,” and “Don’t Let Me Be Lonely.” After experimenting with pop sounds in the late 2010s and going on hiatus in 2023 so the members could pursue individual projects (including Kimberly’s solo releases *Bloom* and *Superbloom*), the band returned in 2025. They re-signed with Nashville Harbor Records and introduced a refreshed lineup, sans two siblings. Their first new music in nine years arrived in February 2026 with the single “Psychological,” marking what they call “Season 2.”
The Band Perry Lineup
- Kimberly Perry – Lead Vocals and Guitar
- Johnny Costello – Mandolin and Background Vocals
(The current iteration is a duo featuring original member Kimberly Perry and her husband Johnny Costello. Substantial lineup changes occurred in 2025: brother Neil Perry departed earlier that year to focus on solo music, and brother Reid Perry left in October 2025 to pursue artist management. The group now performs with supporting live musicians on festival dates.)
Their Set on the Showdeo Stage
Positioned on the Showdeo stage—designed for more established artists bridging emerging and headliner status—The Band Perry’s midday set drew from their catalog of hits while introducing newer material. The performance showcased the updated dynamic, with Kimberly’s vocals front and center and Johnny adding mandolin textures that gave familiar songs a fresh lift. Early-arriving fans responded warmly to classics and the newer single, creating one of those easy, feel-good festival moments under the Texas sun.
The Two Step Inn festival returned to San Gabriel Park in Georgetown, Texas—just a short drive north of Austin—for its 2026 edition. The scenic park setting, with its live oaks and open spaces, gives the event a relaxed, community-oriented atmosphere that sets it apart from larger productions. Three stages offered something for every taste: Pony Up for rising talent, Showdeo for acts like The Band Perry, and Big River for the biggest draws, all complemented by local food vendors and plenty of room to spread out. Day 1 kicked off promisingly before afternoon storms forced the cancellation of the remaining sets during the first song of Kaitlin Butts’ performance at 5:30 p.m.
