Muscadine Bloodline at Extra Innings Festival
As the late afternoon sun settled over Tempe Beach Park, Muscadine Bloodline stepped onto the Right Field stage at 5:45 p.m. on February 27 and delivered a set that felt like a quiet conversation with old friends. Their signature sound—warm, story-rich country drawn straight from Gulf Coast life, anchored by close harmonies and thoughtful guitar work—stands out in today’s music scene for its unhurried honesty. In an era of quick hits and heavy production, the Alabama duo reminds listeners why songs rooted in real places and real feelings still matter.

The moment fit the festival perfectly. Extra Innings Festival, now in its third year, launched in 2024 as the more roots-focused companion to the original Innings Festival, which has welcomed crowds to Tempe Beach Park since 2018. The event blends live country music with spring-training atmosphere, local vendors, and views of the lake, creating an easygoing space where acts like Muscadine Bloodline can simply let their songs breathe.

Alabama-Born Duo with a Decade of Steady Growth
Charlie Muncaster and Gary Stanton grew up in Mobile, Alabama, and first connected through the local music scene before officially forming Muscadine Bloodline in 2016. They built their career the old-fashioned way—independent releases, relentless touring, and a commitment to the Southern storytelling tradition that shaped them. Their music carries the flavor of home without ever feeling forced.

Longtime fans will note there have been no substantial lineup changes in the past few years. The duo’s creative partnership has stayed rock-solid, giving their live shows a natural chemistry that feels effortless after nearly a decade together.

The band consists of:
- Charlie Muncaster – vocals, guitar
- Gary Stanton – vocals, guitar
Signature tracks include the fan-favorite “Porch Swing Angel,” along with “Pieces,” “Dyin’ for a Livin’,” “10-90,” and newer songs that continue exploring their coastal heritage. They earned a standing ovation at their Grand Ole Opry debut in 2018 and have opened for major artists while staying proudly independent

A Set Worth Remembering
Muscadine Bloodline turn a festival afternoon into something that lingers. Their music and easy stage presence invite listeners to slow down and connect with songs that feel personal, even on a big outdoor stage. For anyone who seeks out country music that draws from real roots rather than trends, their performances quietly become highlights of the day—no grand gestures needed, just good songs delivered with care and a clear sense of where they come from.
What we didn’t like: The tour photographer has no business on the stage, especially during the first 3 songs when real, professional photographers are working. The stage belongs to the performers, not the tour photographer.
