Brent Cobb Brings A Southern Rock Edge to Two Step Inn
Brent Cobb and his band The Fixin’s took the Big River Stage shortly after noon on April 18, 2026, and immediately reminded everyone why he’s one of the most respected voices in modern country and Americana. With his warm, lived-in voice and sharp songwriting, Cobb blends classic Southern storytelling with a soulful delivery that feels deeply personal. In an era of polished productions, his music stood out for its honesty and groove, especially as he’s leaned more into rock ’n’ roll territory with this set.

From Georgia Songwriter to Acclaimed Artist
Raised in Ellaville, Georgia, Cobb first made his mark as a songwriter, penning tracks for artists like Luke Combs, Miranda Lambert, Little Big Town, and Kenny Chesney. His own recording career took off with the Grammy-nominated album *Shine On Rainy Day* in 2017. Since then he’s released several acclaimed projects, including the gospel collection *And Now, Let’s Turn to Page…* and 2023’s *Southern Star*. Critics are saying his most recent album, *Ain’t Rocked in a While*, released in July 2025 with The Fixin’s, showcases a bolder, electric side that matches the energy of his live shows.

His Set on the Big River Stage
Playing early on the festival’s main Big River Stage—reserved for headliners and major rising stars—Cobb and the band delivered a tight, engaging performance that mixed newer rock-leaning material with longtime favorites. The set opened strong with “Ain’t Rocked in a While”, the title track from his latest album and moved through storytelling gems that had the early crowd nodding along and singing on the choruses.
The Two Step Inn festival returned to scenic San Gabriel Park in Georgetown, Texas—just north of Austin—for its 2026 edition. The park’s open spaces and live oak trees create a relaxed, honky-tonk atmosphere perfect for a weekend of country, roots, and Americana music across three stages: Pony Up for emerging artists, Showdeo for mid-tier favorites, and Big River for the bigger draws. Local food vendors and plenty of room to move only add to the welcoming feel. Unfortunately, strong afternoon weather rolled in and forced the cancellation of the remaining Day 1 performances during the start of Kaitlin Butts’ set at 5:30 p.m.
